« Money Mindset Class Starting Soon Internet Marketing 2010: The Road Ahead »

Why You Should Listen To Your Customers

During this past weekend, I was excited to announce the release of a new Web Class I am teaching called “Money Mindset.”

It’s a 4-Week class with assignments and Q&A help. The cost of the class is $497.

The class doesn’t actually start until October 15th, so I have a lot of time left to do follow-ups and get more people to register. In fact, I’m sure many people were going to wait until the last minute to sign up — which is often the case with live events like Webinars, seminars, and conferences.

From a business standpoint, the campaign to sell this class (after only 3 days) was already successful. But to be honest, I didn’t see as many of my regular customers signing up as I thought I would. I’m sure many of them were going to register at the last minute, but it was something that got my attention.

I also paid close attention to the blog comments that were made in the post below this one where I had originally announced the class. While you can see for yourself many people are really excited about the class and even feel the $500 price tag will be a bargain for what they’ll learn.

HOWEVER…

You’ll also notice quite a few people expressing their disappointment over the price. They are really interested in the class but just can’t afford, or justify, paying $497 for it.

Our office received quite a few phone calls and email support tickets expressing concern that they really wanted to attend the “Money Mindset” class but the price was too high. We’ve gotten that feedback on some of our products before, but never like this. This is the ‘loudest’ the volume of feedback has ever been.

The economy is still obviously affecting a lot of people. While many are actually prospering right now in their businesses, many of my other customers are struggling.

Now I’m certainly never one to make excuses for high-dollar marketing products that I sell. As Gary Bencivenga once told me (btw he’s one of the top copywriters in history if you don’t know his name) marketing products are actually UNDERPRICED compared to other products; if they are quality training products that can actually produce results, of course.

I also believe in the matra of “getting rich while enriching the lives of others.” I’m an entrepreneur myself and when it comes to Income.com, my marketing-related business, I focus not only on truly helping people but also on making my company wildly profitable.

With that being said, I’m going to do something I’ve never done before when it comes to pricing products for maximum profitability…

The cheapest marketing product (non-subscription) that I’ve ever sold is Traffic Secrets 2.0 at $397. In fact aside from that product all the others are $997 and up. I, again, make no excuses for charge high prices for products I believe offer 10X+ the value. Many of my customers will vouch for the fact that they are bargains for what they contain. HOWEVER…

Because I’ve noticed the real EXCITEMENT people have about this “Money Mindset” and the disappointment so many have expressed because of the high price…

I have decided to CANCEL THE CLASS completely.

All the customers that ordered will be receiving a full refund this week.

What I’m going to do instead is change the format of the class away from the live multiple week platform with Q&A/coaching help, and instead go into my studio and produce “Money Mindset” as a digital home study course.

And then I am going to release it and make it available for only $97. And, no, I’m not planning any upsells, forced continuity, or anything. Just this course by itself for only $97.

But… but… but… there must be some other sinister scheme, right? After all, I’m a marketer. Or “marketing guru” or whatever you want to call me. And all marketers are bad, capitalist pigs right? ;)

Well, in this case there honestly isn’t some evil scheme.

So Why Would I Do This?

Is this just a scheme to make more profit!? I seriously doubt it. I’d have to sell 5X as many to make the same amount of revenue. In fact, releasing recordings of the original class and being able to offer a $250 commission to affiliates would generate a lot more sales activity than if I did the same with a $97 price and gave a $50 commission.

Now don’t get me wrong… I’d love for it to sell thousands upon thousands of copies at $97 and generate some great revenue for my company - after all, we’ve got some pretty high overhead and payroll that need to get paid every month. But that’s honestly not the sole motivation for doing this…

I believe in this “Money Mindset” method a lot. I know it’s going to help a lot of people. I truly believe entrepreneurs NEED it. And who knows, maybe it will spin off into a real book that I may write. I’ve had plans to write a real book for years and haven’t been able to follow-through because I keep changing my mind as to what I’d want in it.

And from a business perspective, I think if I can help a lot more people with this product (by selling it for far less than any marketing product I’ve ever offered) it will also generate some loyal customers that may go on to buy my other more expensive products when they can afford them.

So I just wanted to share some random thoughts with you about what I decided to do and why.

I’ll keep you posted on the development of the home study version and when it might be ready for release. Thanks to everyone for their visit in “Money Mindset” — I’m really excited about it! :)

~John

Dude, every word on your moneymindset was just intoxicating. Seriously burned my retinas as the words jumped off and pierced my soul.

What you laid out was true and the mental game to this business is the “real” area we most often forget. Thanks for laying it out. You and just a couple other dudes are the only voices I listen to in the IM world.

Listening to your customers and making a bold play like this price drop keeps you on top of the game.

  2. KCLau Says:

It will be very interesting to see “Money Mindset” offered at lower price. I haven’t purchase any of your products simply because the price is not really affordable to me.
I would happily jump in this time!

  3. dotCOMreport.com Says:

Wow, big news I must say. Look forward to buying the recordings when the come out.

  4. Sean Says:

Plan B sounds good John! something to look forward to after the big holiday season… too early to say the santa word?

  5. Todd Dickerson Says:

Great idea John, I’ll be picking up the new digital edition! Can’t wait! I listen through the business accelerator recordings at least once a month, I’m sure this will be the same!

    Thanks!

  6. Rod Says:

John, I’ve always admired and respected you and your business ethics and methodology. You’re one of the best. This latest idea of lowering the price because you feel more people will benefit and because your customers asked for it is…really very smart business on your part.

That’s why you’re one of the best. I’ll be sure to listen out so I can get a copy when you release it.

    Thanks John.

  7. Sam McCall Says:

Thank you so much!! I will definitely be the first in line.

  8. Ryan Wade Says:

I was PUMPED for the class, but totally understand where your coming from dude.

I thought $497 was definitely worth it … that’s why I signed up on the spot when you talked about it.

Rest assured though that I will be one of the first to sign up for the new course…. ;-)

    Talk with you soon,

    Ryan

  9. Pat Beith Says:

    Hey John,
You are a truly standup guy and one of the few internet marketers that I respect. I was a last minute person that was going to join the class and will definitely get the digital version. I dont think you need to drop the price at all as you always heavily overdeliver. Either way I am just excited you are coming out with a new product. Thanks John for all of your help to my business.
    -Pat

  10. Nez Says:

    John,

I thought your video on the sales page was worth $97 alone. I’d ordered before I’d even finished watching it. If that video is an indication of what’s in store for the home study course, then $97 is rediculously low, but I get it and respect your reasons for cancelling it.

I for one thought $497 was a steal and I’d been really looking forward to the webinar sessions. Looking forward to the home study course just as much. :-)

    Cheers,
    Nez

  11. Nick Says:

    Hi John,
nice move - but I’m a bit disappointed dude. I’ve got a product I’ll be releasing pretty soon and my big hook was that I absolutely promised it was a one time, no continuity built in product. You beat me to the punchline!
You should still absolutely offer an upsell to the Q&A and assignments - I’m sure you will as you’re a smart operator - you know people like/need the extra help sometimes.
I hope the new version of Money Mindset is a huge success for you (and the people who buy it)!
    Best wishes
    Nick

  12. Joe Says:

    I have respect for you.

    1) Transparency. Why did u cut the price down based on factual finding.

    2) Sensibility. $497 dollars. Come on u know this was overpriced.

  13. Chris Says:

    Hi John,

$97 is much better then the $497 price tag. I’m actually thinking about buying it now (before I wasn’t going to purchase at all). This really has my attention now :)

I also like how you believe that selling it so low will later in return bring you new repeat buyers, and I believe it will.

    Take care,
    Chris

  14. Leo Says:

Yes the najority of professionals worry if they would actually have the patience and plan to implement what they would study than the quality of the program. In that respect they worry when they spend high amounts to aquire a study or attend a program without be sure if finally would implement it. They want to spend an afforadble amount and one can risk to loose .
if the study or program they aquire first time proves to be extraordinary and offer a turnkey business solutioon or education able someone to develop his buisiness succesfully then he would pay much higher amounts for other quality programs the same author and coach can offer.
    Regards
    Leo

  15. Shaun Says:

    John,

It’s funny. After watching the first video for the class, I thought, “Man, this gonna be great”. You had me sold. My second thought was “I can’t justify the $500.00. I’d buy it if there was a way to get it at a lower price” and the more I crunched the numbers the more I knew it was true, then I just completely put the idea of getting the classes out of my head.

You can’t imagine how super-excited I am, now. I can do $97.00. The thought of getting the information I was soo looking forward to after watching the video at a price I can afford has me stoked. I’m good for one sale. What’s that quote, again, about the journey of 1000 sales?

Thanks, from all of us, who will undoubtedly benefit from the course.

    To all our success,
    Shaun

  16. Jamail Says:

    Hey John,
Dude you are a blessing, thank you so much.. God will bless you many more!!
I cant wait until it drops, im buying!…. And one more thing, where can i purchase Traffic secrets 2.0 again because someone stolen mine :(

  17. Wayne Marshall Says:

    John,

Was pondering it at $495 but at $97 will be a no brainer. As I saw in a twitter stream a while back this quote: “successful people are good at plan B” - you saw the need for a Plan B and took action right away - that is the money mindset I am needing.

    Thanks for listening!

    Wayne

  18. Marshall Says:

I’m looking forward to seeing this John. Either way it would have been a great format but after seeing so many of the comments I can see why you decided to go this route.

The last post served as good market research I suppose.

    Marshall

  19. Richard Says:

Thanks John. You just gained one more customer. I can’t wait to buy this product.
    Cheers.

  20. Nathan @ Logo Co Says:

Cant wait for this one to launch… mindset is such an important element of creating wealth and for a guy such as yourself who has broken the barriers so many times I’m looking forward to learning more..

    Cheers John,
    Nathan

  21. Steve Pohlit Says:

    Hi John,

First I complement you on your message. You are writing what you are thinking about. The topic is not a light one. The mantra of one of my ventures is “The Greatest Good For The Greatest Number of People” So I understand your intent.

Interestingly enough tonight I am publishing content and it is raising the questions of commitment and responsibility. I reflect back on your videos with Tony and Frank. Key issue, why do people simply not follow the road map. This issue has not gone away.

So I am going to go against the tide here and say you should not lower the price. In fact I would advise a date on which the price doubles. Your content is always awesome John. I felt your excitement for this program. There is huge value exchange. You may want to use the irresistible offer of getting your money back after the first class if you don’t think this program is for you.

Lowering the price may help a few who will really do the work. But the people who are going to do the work will pay the $497.

Sending you energy of peace, healthy, happiness, prosperity

    Steve

  22. Leon K Says:

    Hi John
I’ll admit the price did put me off.

I have purchased over $2,500 of internet marketing courses, newsletters etc from you and have alway be amazed at the quality and value you give.

At $97 it is no brainer, your experience will save me time in establishing a buisness which will give me the freedom and security I stive for.

  23. Marc Horne Says:

    John,
This is nice post. Keep up the good work.
    Cheers

  24. Jeff Bode Says:

    Hey John

I think it’s always best to listen to what your customers want (within reason) and I also believe the people that need this product the most are the ones who don’t have almost $500 to spend on it…

Before I was successful with my online business, I never would have spent $500 or even half that…

Now I realize the impact high priced training can have on my business but that’s besides the point…

Good luck with the course, more loyal customers is always a good thing!

    Jeff Bode

  25. Brian Says:

If you look at all these various popular internet courses, you can see a pattern.

Over time the price drops; in some cases right down to free. Yes free, as when the old material is offered as a come-on bonus for some newer material.

The problem is all your ex-students take the ideas and reproduce them. It is like trying to sell tomatoes in the middle of a glut.

And why pay for coaching? It is a very expensive way to purchase information. Why not read a book or join a forum. And especially use a bit of trial and error learning by taking action yourself.

You may also notice a pattern in snake oil advertisements. They describe the problem in all its gruesome detail. Then they go into raptures about how good life would be if you did not have the problem. At no stage do they demonstrate how their program is going to actually fix your problem.

So my advice is refuse to be conned. It took you a long time to earn that money, so why go and give it to a snake oil salesman whose course does nothing more than state the bleeding obvious.

    Keep your dream alive.

  26. Mark Says:

I think the whole decision sucks!
If people do not see the power of having a mentor available during the classes that John was going to teach is not thinking straight.
I paid for the course, knowing that I could use the money for other things.
    I AM REAL DISAPPOINTED!
There is no way that a protracted $97 course is going to offer what John was going to offer us.
I’m sorry I feel this way, but I think there are to many people out here that want something for nothing.
Come on people…this is John Reese!
    Sell something on Craigslist…have a garage sale….
There are ways to get the money…if you want it bad enough.
My comments may stir up quite a bit of conversation, but once again…you whiners…THIS JOHN REESE.
Try getting a mentor for what he was offering!
P.S. I am not a personal friend of John and we have never met.

  27. Steve Says:

Your cheapest (marketing/nonsubscription) product wasn’t $397. It was, your Auction Secrets product at $97.

  28. Yvon-Pierre Major Says:

I’m so happy you’ve decided to lower the price. I listened to your pre-sell video with great enthusiasm because it resonated so much with my experience. Unfortunately, the price was a concern for me too… but not anymore! I’m looking forward to your message announcing the release of the Home Study version of Money Mindset.

    Yvon-Pierre

  29. Jack Says:

    John,

This is a bold decision which you have taken, and I know for a fact that it will be more accessible to the masses, and for that reason you will have branded yourself and income.com as a very meaningful and purposeful company, thus retaining your customer loyality in the long run.

    Well done indeed.

    Good Luck

    Jack

  30. Geminigail Says:

Wow! John Reese you are so very clever! You must be taking a page from the Frank Kern School of Mass Control ! Love it!

  31. Adil Amarsi Says:

    Dude this is amazing.

I still would have got it for $497. But hey a $400 discount, its all good.
I hope I have enough cash to get this, because it looks amazing.

I hope you are doing well and are having a great day and week.

    Adil

  32. michael Says:

Not the scholarship I had hoped for the course, but I might shell out the cash. I think it’s a cool concept and probably going to be worth $97.

  33. John Zajaros Says:

I was in the camp that wanted to join in but had just increased my video marketing level to platinum, joined in on The New Money Masters mainly for you, Frank, and Tony, and then added a third major marketing program this month. In this past month I had to also say no to another course, which absolutely killed me because I need to hone the skill he was offering! You guys are competitors and as such have your own agendas, time tables, and businesses to run but the timing on all of these launches, combined with Tony’s live event, just brutalized my budget, and I am not alone to be sure.

I understand completely how Mark feels above and would have been terribly disappointed had a I stretched myself and my budget to make it just to find it cancelled. And you are someone I follow…and read and digest all you offer.

You know, one of my businesses is a tutoring service and some of the people who need it the most, who are truly motivated, just can’t pay my usual all or nothing up front fee for PhD level tutoring (which is very high, more than I pay my physician), so I make provisions for them. They are without a doubt my most loyal, long-term clients…because they are grateful for the break and because they are the ones who really need it. They don’t forget the kindness and they refer others, most who pay up front!

I realize you aren’t running a Red Feather organization but sometimes you have got to know your market and what is happening to them, and to your credit you seem to be aware of the fact that right now your market is hurting, looking for ways to supplement and augment their incomes, and stay afloat.

I would have stretched for a monthly fee and/or the same course offered a period of 6 months, perhaps less intensive but with the same basic format. Basically a fixed continuity with you are the teacher. Just a thought. I am certain you have your own thoughts, and in this milieu, you are much more experienced than I am. But most people right now can’t take another whack…but would commit to a monthly, ongoing mentoring program.

Just my two cents worth from the cheap seats. All the best to you and good luck on the “re-tooling!” BTW, I loved the “Tony Interview” and look forward to your segment of TNMM!

    John Zajaros

  34. Abu Shafi Says:

John, you are really mindful of your struggling customers. No doubt when you release the affordable version of your very valuable course, you will get more buyers for all your future products.
    Thank you.

  35. Kerry Says:

    Many thanks John,
    VERY much appreciated!
Looking forward to receipt & results!

  36. Robert Says:

Your stuff is always great, John. I was drooling over it until I saw the price. There was just no way. Sad to admit it, know it would be worth it, but it is true (the $$ part).

I imagine that those who are already successful and wouldn’t blink an eye about $500 are already, pretty much, on track and have their mindset mojo working.

But those who need it the very most are struggling with money issues…which is why we really need it - but can’t afford the higher price. A weird catch 22.

The price is right now. So please help us and don’t hold back, John. As we do become more successful, the money won’t be as tight and then we will be the ones who “won’t blink an eye” when paying for your more expensive products and service.

    Thanks ;-) Robert

  37. Dan Says:

    REally great John can’t wait.

  38. Meg McNeal Says:

    Hello John

I know you can’t promise that someone will make money, I have been trying to make money online for years. I only do a little here and there. I know I am missing something and I keep searching for it. I try a lot of traffic formulas but nothing seems to work. Maybe I can find what I am searching for with your course. Thanks so much for lowering the price.

  39. Chris Brisson Says:

    Hey John,

Honestly, I did think it was a little high comparing it to how much I paid for Traffic Secrets. I can and feel see where the “loudness” would come from. Although, I think what you teach and more importantly how you teach it, is worth it’s weight in gold.

In some sense Webinars have a capped value or price point. I’m a huge fan of “stuff at my door” products. SO SEND AWAY!!

    I’m ALL in :)

    Keep it rockin John!

    Chris

  40. Jonathan Gunson Says:

    Good Lord John

    Honest feedback deserves publicity.
    I put out a Tweet to my 37,000 :)

  41. Gary Parenti Says:

    Hey,

Let me know when the price drops
    to 97 cents..

    I`m Poor,
    Gary,

  42. Wren Says:

I’d take the unedited, handwritten, poorly recorded copy tonight for that and would be ecstatic. Send out the early bird list and valuable pieces along the way and I can work it until early November…

  43. Tom Says:

    Oddly,
Just the Offer and naming the price
and the reaction to the pricing,
has become a Lesson within a Lesson
    of a “Money Mindset!”

  44. Rogerio Job Says:

    Hi John,

    A brazilian marketer here!

    I really enjoy this news.

I know your product is underpriced but there’s a lot of people like me that live in countries where the current coin is weak so we are always looking for opportunities like these.

    Thank you!

    Rogerio Job

  45. Rick Louis Says:

    Hi John;

After YEARS of “Info-Overload”, you are one of the three or four folks I actually allow anywhere near me anymore.

You need to get on the phone with Perry Marshall - He just put out the most AMAZING RC newsletter I’ve ever seen - Required Reading for the entire family - And completely in sync with what you are saying.

“Count Me In”, my friend - You are a valued and TRUSTED “resource”.

    Best Regards, Your Friend,

    Rick

  46. Eugene Says:

Can someone enlighten me if this can be something to help build my offline business? I am actually into direct sales and was wondering if this could help me build my business as well.

  47. Seth Larrabee Says:

    John-O

I thoroughly enjoyed (not to mention the profound impact they had on me) the videos of you and Frank with Tony Robbins. The marketing effort must have worked because I am a New Money Masters member.

Looking forward to the release of Money Mindset. Thanks for all that you do!

    Seth

  48. Kent Says:

    Thanks John!

You are the greatest marketer! You just teach one marketing lesson that I never see other marketers do it this way…it is not easy when come to making profits or listen to your customers.

Definitely hope to learn more about your ‘Money Mindset’.

  49. Vance Sova Says:

    Hi John,

Very good thinking and very good move.

Your products may be worth what you ask for or even more.

But it’s the market that ultimately decides the price.

Your customers have spoken and you’ve listened. How great is that?

Now everybody that really wants the Money Mindset will be able to find a way to get it.

In the end you may end up with a lot more customers and in the long run more profits.

    Everybody will benefit.

Nice of you to share the decision process.

    Vance

  50. Geoff Slingsby Says:

Hi there…well John, without too much flattery, I feel compelled to give you a big thumbs up for your post on the money mindset class.

I am on your list but not a customer at this stage. Have just added your blog to my Google Reader…

Love the style, direct, informative, and very unapologetic, regarding the marketing of bigger ticket items, standing firm on the value add=10xthe investment.

In many years of direct selling (offline), I learn’t to be firm, (on price), and present the value to the prospect, it actually builds respect both ways. And if some people don’t do business with you thats life.

Getting back to money mindset class, it looks very affordable for me also. My budget (online) is maxed out, however I could fit $97 in.

Will go and look at some other posts now…

    Cheers

    Geoff Slingsby
PS: Read with interest a number of other comments, and think this a good little community.

  51. Roger Due Says:

I am looking forward to the new product. I couldn’t justify the original price at this point in time. Thanks.

  52. Kraig Says:

John- Your an inspiration buddy. Love your methodology.

  53. Michael Says:

    John:

I am one of those people who could not afford the price of your original course. I deeply appreciate your decision to make this available to people like myself. I was introduced to your work via your interview with Tony Robbins. I am in my mid sixties and realize that I will be unable to retire on my own terms unless I develop additional sources of income. I am hopping that internet marketing can provide that for me.
I look forward to your home study course.

    Michael

  54. James Hendricks Says:

    John,

Thank you. My hats off to you for what you’re doing for others. This is a topic of particular interest to me and I need a good coach.

    Bravo!

    James

  55. Joe Dyndale Says:

Dude. On a scale of 1 to 10 when it comes to my respect for you, you just went from a 10 to an 11.

I’m 28 years old, suffering from burnout and depression, and over $330,000 in debt. This could not come at a better time for me. I’ve been going through lots of mental reorganization and re-prioritization lately. I have LOTS of business ideas, and I’m a pretty skilled programmer and photographer, so I definitely have a lot going for me - except I lack the energy to take any action at all. My brain is completely paralyzed. Seems like you know the situation all too well. Here’s to hoping I am where you are today 5 to 10 years from now.

I agree completely that great marketing and business courses are under-priced. Most marketing software is way over-priced though. But I’ll refrain from digressing…

    Have an awesome day!

  56. Richard Says:

Wish I had finished watching the video - as soon as I saw it was $497 I stopped the video… Yes, things are very hard for many people and the main reason I’ve been in the toilet is because my mindset sucks - and I’m doing everything I can to get back up - so Mindset is absolutely needed… haven’t bought anything or yours since years ago when subscribed to your monthly recordings…

Used to be Rich before the stock market crashed a year ago so have to go back being called Richard so no false advertising..

  57. Marlene Says:

At $97, I’ll be all over that puppy. At $497, that meant giving up my rent. Funny, though, I’d already printed out your landing page and I was attempting to figure out the six things myself. I spent all day focusing on the first one: laser like focus & clarity. It worked.

What you said was SO true - I sat ALL day at my computer on Sunday, totally willing to work hard and yet paralyzed as to what to do. (Not unlike many other weekends.)

  58. Michael Martine Says:

I guess nobody is picking up on the huge irony of people clearly don’t possess a money mindset complaining about the price of a course about… getting a money mindset.

You will NEVER have a money mindset until you make that leap of faith and truly invest in yourself. Your whole life changes after that point. It doesn’t matter if the price of that leap is $97 or $497.

I applaud John for what he’s doing. If more people can get this at just $97 and it really helps them, John just got a customer for life. That makes this smart marketing as well as being truly helpful.

  59. Nico Says:

At $97 I might buy it I have most of your products and feel they are of great quality. I actually didn’t watch the video becuase it turned me off when you started putting the secrets down.

Because no where in the secret does it say “Don’t take action” quite the contrary “Take inspired action” . And I know for a fact the mental game, law of attraction is what controls it all. None of your actions will mean crap if you mind is not in the right place. I have proven then over and over in my life.

Maybe you where doing an us vs. them pitch us “Realist” Vs. “Those pie in this sky new age people” Well this Pie in this sky new age dreamer has made close to $1,000,000 online so far. And yes it too work and action but without the thought and positive energy I got no where. When I made that shift things started happening.

But for $97 I might listen a bit further being that all of your products have been great so far!

  60. Roosevelt Cooper Says:

    Hi John,

    Why not do both?

Do the webinar at $497 and give the participants the ability to ask you questions. Being able to ask you questions on the material alone would be worth $497 for a lot of people.

Then convert the webinar into a digital home study course and sell it for $97. They get the material, but they don’t get to ask you questions. Either don’t record the Q&A portion or record it but make it only available to those who pay the $497.

This way everyone is happy. The people who paid the $497 are happy because they get their webinar. The people who thought that $497 was too much are happy because now they can get it for $97.

    Everyone wins!

  61. Joe Says:

John, at least give us access to the video. I took notes on it the first time around and I was going to watch it again to let it sink in… then bam!!! No video on the site. (I knew I should have recorded with my video camera) I was considering the $497 price but $97 dollars!!! it’s a done deal. Can’t wait to get it. What’s the e.t.a?

  62. Joe P Says:

    John,

I am not sure you are going to have the guts to publish my post, but honestly, I will tell you what people are talking in well known forums and a few memberships that I belong to, and if you are really as smart as you like to make people believe, you will consider what I am saying today.

No, people did not sign up for you latest class/training because of the money issue, come on, $500? when some people are paying $800 for stompernet (now $199) , $200 for Dan’s program per month, etc etc. It is not the money John! do you really want to know what it is?

You are losing respect, trust, and your traffic secrets 2.0 was a complete waste of money for anyone who bought it.

You, as many gurus, started providing great information, mostly for the newbies. Now, many of your followers, including me, are specting a higher quality of product, and also more advcanced stuff. The problem is, you have a lot of money already, you do not put the same time into creating your products as you used to do because…why do it? you already have millions!

Listen John, traffic secrets was a great product, an amazing product, it showed people what and how to do things. Then you created traffic secrets 2.0 in which you talked a lot, I mean, it was mostly talk, you should do this, you should do that, etc…but not example or how to do it, it was mostly giving ideas with out a solid step by step. I guess is because there is only so much to teach about SEO, once people know the basics it is just about doing it better and more, over and over…

John, it is time to produce a much better quality product, and stop breaking your promises. You told us on an email a while ago, that you would not promote any products on income.com well, that promise lasted a few months, then you started sending offers for products that to be honest, where not that great.

You promised us to be very involved on your TF 2.0 forums and will answer questions personally… did you know how many questions are there that you never answered? yes you have a moderator but we bought your product because of the hope to have questions answered by you…etc etc…

    You have lost trust
You produced a lower quality product
You are not i the game of SEO or IM any more
You have too much money and little motivation.

Ok, I am so stupid, I just wasted 30 minutes writing this when I know it is impossible you will publish it, if you do, I will gain my respect for you back, that is for sure.

John, this is the truth, it will help but I think it will be the wake up call you will remember and mention in you next product when you make a lot of money because you changed the way you were doing things thanks to this post.

  63. Sue Says:

John, when I listened to the first video about Money
Mindset I found myself answering yes to everything you
said. It struck a nerve and I thought “I really need this!”
Then, when I saw the price, I was disappointed because
there was no way I could afford it. I went back to the video
to listen several times because it was so good but had to
put it aside. I have never known of anyone online who did
what you are doing and I have the utmost respect for how
you responded to your customers comments. Now I am
excited because the course will be within reach. Thank you!

  64. Brian Says:

In case you are wondering, most of these comments are coming from people who are paid to write these comments.

Take note of the way that most of them begin with a compliment. That is not a natural way to comment on a blog.

It is one gigantic setup. Don’t be conned out of your money.

  65. Outtanames999 Says:

John, you will without a doubt make more money selling at $97 then you will selling at $497. You have the _traffic_ to support this theory and make it a reality. Congratulations on making the right money decision. You really do have the Money Mindset.

  66. Chas Says:

In case you were wondering, “Brian” is actually Gary Bencivenga who is here to Razz John about dropping his price. Gary knows value and thinks John is making a mistake. But still respects his decision of course.

  67. Alex Says:

    John –

    You said:

“But to be honest, I didn’t see as
    many of my regular customers
signing up as I thought I would. ”

I’m one of those regular customers
    posting under a pseudonym.

I’m going to provide you with some
insight about why I didn’t bite and
why some of your other regular
customers might have sat this one
    out on the sidelines.

    * The overwhelming majority of
    your customers are “professional
newbies.” I should know, I was
one of them for years. We’d get in
line to buy course after course
    offered by you and others.

    * After a while, it gets depressing
to do this. Most of us are good people,
but to be honest, we are losers when
it comes to getting a business plan
put together and focusing on one
    primary objective.

    * The turning point for me was when
I listened to Frank Kern speak on
Day #3 of your “2009 Accelerated Web
    Business” webinar earlier this year.
Frank’s words helped me see what
an abject failure I have been, and I
also felt very angry with myself.

    * Many customers like me have also
been hit with a diminution in our day
job salary. So suddenly this “hobby”
we call “Internet marketing” had to
    start producing REAL results.

    * I’m averaging around $500 per
month this year with my online
    business. I’ve got a rudimentary
business plan, and a daily schedule.
    Buying your “Money Mindset” class
would be a distraction from the goals
and daily schedule I have setup. I’d
imagine this might apply to some of
    your other regular customers.

    * Many of your regular customers
like me might perceive this class as
    CONTRIBUTING to the problem of
having too much information. I know
that in my case, it would not help me
move any closer to my goals.

    * Even I have begun to view you as
someone who is defined by PAST
greatness, and not as someone who
    remains active outside of servicing
    the “information addiction” of newbies
who never want to grow up. For some
of your other long time customers,
the magic might be starting to fade.

    * Your involvement with AffiliateJump
as an affiliate left me wondering if you
really believed in what you promoted
    anymore. I suspect other customers
may have wondered the same thing. It
    wouldn’t necessarily consciously
influence my decision to buy something
from you in the future, but it leaves me
with a nagging suspicion that you’re
not necessarily putting the interests of
your customers ahead of the interests
of the people who you’re promoting.

    * You’re an incredibly inspirational
figure and I really hope you take these
comments for what they are — I’m not
trying to rag on you or come across
    as being rude or confrontational.

  68. Kong Yee Onn Says:

    Hi, John,

I am Vincent Kong Yee Onn of Malaysia, and I would say that you are

right to lower your “Mindset stuff” from $497 to $97 so that a lot people

can afford it. And I have read some of the comments your customers

have written which say, you shouldn’t do that since it will lessen the quality

of the product. However I don’t agree with them because the digital version

is cheaper and more earsier to purchase and use, so in the long run it

can sell more copy. And I have listen to your interviews with Tony Robbins and

there are amazing and inspiring since I have attended Tony Robbins Seminars

back in Malaysia a few years ago. It is really life changing event since he can

really changed the way we look at life. And he is doing a really great job.

    Thank you.
    Regards,

    Vincent Kong

  69. Stuart H. Says:

regardless of the economy - good or bad - marketing (of any sort) is
always in a state of flux, always changing to reflect the ‘conditions of
the day’, whether it’s a news story, a sports team winning or losing,
    whatever.
now it’s affected by the global economic climate.

the smart marketer (as john has proven) adapts to the changes and
    current conditions.

it’s a different world than it was two years ago, or even a year ago.

you either adapt, or you die a horrible marketers death…..

    regards,

  70. ZuluDawn Says:

I agree with Alex. This silver is tarnished.

  71. Carl Juneau Says:

    John,

    How kind of you.

I’ll look forward to the $97 salesletter.

    CJ

  72. kevin Says:

I think it was the right move creating a cheaper version but I am confused why you didnt go ahead with the live training and then just sell the recorded version like is often done. Maybe the quality would suffer I am not sure.
I think you did a very thorough job on the sales video, but it did seem a bit odd that there wasnt a slower buildup launch.

  73. Tom Tenaglia Says:

A customer for life… $97 for the mindset course is absolutely worth it!

Thanks for listening to your customers. :)

  74. Gerry Griffin Says:

John you are truly a Prince amongst men, it is a privilege to be a customer of yours. I am a people person, I will be 80 in November, and most of my adult life,35 years, I have been an advocate for Workers as a Union Labor Negotiator, and have known tons of people from all walks of life, and you my friend are way out in front. You are a good person, and a perfect role model.
The video really struck a chord with me I would make a perfect Case Study, but I decided I could not participate even though I didn’t have clue what it would cost. In retrospect I cold not afford $520.00 CAD, but because of your generosity, and it will be digital I will scrape the money together and buy it, and for that I thank you. In the not too distant future when I get some money coming in I intend to do some traveling, and will swing by to shake your hand. Keep up the good work………Gerry

  75. John Reese Says:

THANK YOU to everyone that posted kind words and great feedback.

BRIAN - if you think the comments are fake you can click on people’s names and go to their web sites. I’m sure you can contact them (if it’s really that important to you) and they’ll let you know they are real people that weren’t paid to post on someone’s blog. :)

JOE P. - first of all, thanks for taking the time to post your feedback even if the majority of it was criticism. I’m open to hearing the good and the bad and keep an open mind to learn from everyone’s opinion. As far as TS2 is concerned I’d have to disagree with you. We have a large group of people that LOVED the course. I’m sure if you do some Google searching you can find some of the comments people have made that got a lot out of it. TS2 was in a different style than TS1. It was more conceptual and strategic. It was a different teaching style. I did that on purpose to make a great addition to TS1 — which everyone got free (digital version) if they didn’t already own it. As far as saying I’m only selling to newbies, many of my best customers will disagree with you. I have many customers that have 7 figure businesses. It’s obvious that you didn’t like the teaching style of TS2, and that’s fine. It just didn’t resonate with you. People have different tastes. As far as the TS2 forum is concerned, the forum activity became very slow as not many people were using it — and forums can be a catch 22. No one wants to post in a slow forum, yet a new forum has a hard time growing into something big enough because it’s new. As far as me not posting enough, I’d have to AGREE with you. I posted a lot in the beginning and then slowed my participation down. It seemed that many threads were quickly being answered by other members and there was no use to me posting the same answer. BUT I do believe I should have been a bit more active in the forum. There have been others from our company regular answering people’s questions, but you’re right, people wanted to see more of ME participating and it was a BIG MISTAKE for me not stay more involved. But to be fair, I never promised that *I* would answer every single question. You do realize that right? I stated I would participate as well as others would help with any questions. As far as me not having any motivation, I would disagree with that. I have plenty of motivation. I enjoy teaching and helping people. I have, however, been through a lot of personal challenges in the last 2 years. I’ve had several deaths occur in my life that really affected me and kept me from having more passion for my businesses. But I’ve dealt with all of that and now I’m back to working a regular schedule again. But never did I leave the IM game. I’ve kept up with things every single day for the past many years. And as far as not promoting affiliate products with Income.com, I clearly made it public when I changed my mind and decided to endorse other products and services. In fact, I had many people actually telling me that they wanted me to so they’d be more likely to learn about other tools and courses in the market. As far as promoting some products that turned out not to be great, I AGREE with you. I got BURNED by promoting some things that didn’t end up fulfilling the promises or had other problems. Reviews of the core products always made them look good (which is why I’d endorse them) but usually it was other things that seller ended up doing that got it negative feedback. Anyway… THANK YOU for your valued feedback. I am definitely going to take into consideration all of the points you made.

ALEX - thanks for the comments. Sorry to hear you’re not yet where you want to be. I actually think the Money Mindset product IS something that would help you out with strategic direction, but that’s just my opinion of course. As for most of my customers being ‘professional newbies’ as you say, I’d have to disagree with you. I have a lot of very successful customers and very active non-newbie marketers of varying success. I’m sure I have ’some’ of those newbie customers but I’d hardly say it’s the majority of customers. As far as Affiliate Jump, I agree with you 100%. In hindsight, I wish I never would have promoted it. I saw it before it launched and never in a million years knew it would have all those problems as well as upset so many people. THANK YOU for all your constructive criticism. I will definitely consider everything you have said.

  76. Dan Says:

I would not be surprised in the least to find out that in the end, ‘Money Mindset’ became more profitable and wildly successful than you ever imagined. After all, giving in the true sense of good will very often rewards the giver ten fold.

Thank you, John. I’ll keep my eye out for the ‘new’ salesletter.

  77. Glenn Says:

    John,

Simply put, ’spreading the love’ in the form of providing extraordinary value will serve you in the end. Even though affordability is an issue that would have precluded my participation, I admit to having nonetheless been disappointed when I read that you were cancelling the class. From your intro video it is evident that you understand inner-game issues that are prerequisites to success. Having chosen to share this with ‘us’ at this lower price point will certainly engender for you appreciation and endearment among those who will therefore avail themselves of it.

If, as you have said, you have altered course to accommodate those of us who would have otherwise not have been able to benefit from your instruction, then I commend your ’sensitivity’ and response to what you perceived to be our needs. Inasmuch, I thank you and am looking forward to your future announcement of its availability in digital form. Wisdom smiles upon thee.

  78. kate Says:

    Hi John,
    thanks for your email.

I would be one of those who either can’t afford, or just can’t justify a price tag like the original one for Money Mindset…

BUT…IF I had been, I think I would be EVEN MORE disappointed that you are pulling the course.

From your point of view, you may have sold less than you thought…but RUNNING the course as you planned it can only give you DEEPER insight and wisdom to add to your digital course, as you interract with real people and their challenges.

oh, and here’s a wild thought…If you REALLY think it will work that well, why not give people the option of paying at the END of the course…when it HAS worked???

Like a sort of resersed, money back guarantee???

Then you would have BIG numbers…LOTS of testimonials, and…by your reasoning, EVEN MORE satisfied, loyal, successful and rich customers chomping at the bit for your OTHER products!

    Yours

    Kate

  79. Jess Says:

Fantastic approach John …you keep up a real top guru with this move.

  80. Chand Says:

Wow! …. You just grabbed me right back into buying “Money Mindset!” Not that I wasn’t interested at all but I REALLY was interested about how your program could change me and deliver me from this ‘desperate for results’ situation and pressuring feeling of ‘going no where in circles’ cycle!

I believed “Money Mindset” could help set me free from this ridiculous point where I am currently in and to be honest when I saw the price tag (I knew it would be costly but for some awkward reason I was STILL hoping it to be affordable!) I frowned. Not because I don’t believe in it’s value but simply it will be a little to much for me now. I simply told myself “next time then…. when I’m a little richer!” and bookmarked it for future reference when I can afford it. I have a specific folder called “Future Look” used especially to bookmark high priced offers that I am really interested in and which I will look in the future again when I’m ready.

I rarely bother leaving replies like this on blogs but here I am writing away! I must be happy and excited about what just happened I guess :) ! This truly is a second chance for me to really get “Money Mindset” at a moment of unexpected surprise! I already put this offer away from my mind but here I am again ready to buy it and it’s because of your generous and open heart as a human towards another, and not always as a marketer (which is still fine and understandable!) you have given me and many others who REALLY need help from you achieve that now.

In this blog post I’d like to just end off by saying “Thank you so much!” for what you did. I’m touched by it and it will be something I will remember to do one day (the day I’m really successful…. if that ever happens!?) and that is to not forget to help others when they really need it. This right here can be a valuable lesson I can take with me even though I am currently benefiting from it.

From this generous act you have done today and benefit you have given for many others I sincerely hope you receive back in multiples and multiples for your own business…. bet you will :) Thank you so much once again. All the best.

  81. Nickolove Lovemore Says:

    Hi John,

Thanks for sharing this and for your candour. This information is useful for others who are thinking about creating products at this time as well.

And, judging from the response here, when you do release the new version of your course it should be very well received.

    Best wishes

    Nickolove

  82. ted sikkink Says:

    Hi,

Am impressed with your decision and very happy to learn you’ll ultimately make it available as a 97$ digital home study course for I also put it aside based on it’s pricetag.
I believe the subject is immensely important and I know exactly what you were talking about because I am/have been suffering from this issue inspite of having bought some really major courses by rich schefren, mark joyner ,eben pagan etc .
Once again, bravo for conceiving this course and very much looking forward to it’s digital version
    best

  83. David Leigh Says:

$97 sounds more like it, I hope the content will be available to access online rather than a physical product though.

    David

  84. Simon Ashari Says:

think this is a good move.

the $497 price just didn’t feel right even though it was evident that people were getting
    massive value.

    smart move.

    Simon

  85. RB Says:

    Hey John,

After a long time you sent out a useful email to your list. I appreciate you for being honest. Internet Marketers with LLC and staffs on Payroll have to always keep selling something to cover their administrative cost. But if the product is useful, I have no objection! :)

  86. Megan Donovan Says:

Oh John, that are bad news. I was ready to fork over the $497 to join your class, but I’m really disappointed to read now, that you’ve cancelled the webinar. You have often promised to release products but that never happened. So how long will it take and how often will you cancel to release the Money Mindset Homestudy course? A sad day….

  87. Ziring Zurar Says:

Come on are most of these blog posts even real or simply paid for? It seems like there would be a little more common sense than that. (sorry to offend the real guys, if there are any)

It is so obvious this was planned, it is a genius marketing tactic in convincing your fellow prospects that you are getting $497 VALUE for $97!

I am sure that the course was planned to be cancelled and sold for $97. But the problem in the IM community is they have seen it all. They are used to all the tactics to convince them that they are getting more than they are asked to pay for so Mr. John Reese had to up the ante! Such that he even opens the course takes payments and then refunds them! Of course the removal of the live sesssions sets it up to make it look that it is believable. WOW how is that for precieved value!

So here is what it boils down to, can someone with such genius and forward thinking strategies, and never before seen tactics teach you something worth $97 or even $99 997! You better believe he can. But the real question is will he?

This can not be answered with certainty until the course is sold BUT we can have a fairly good estimated guess.

    And my answer is NO!

    Why?

As a former customer of traffic secrets 2.0 which I, if I remember correctly, actually paid $497 on launch day. Personally I found the informaton in Traffic Secrets 2.0 to be a good general overview of the different ways to get traffic. It did not live up to the hype or what I would expect a $500 product to do, SHOW ME, how to get that traffic and leave me at the end of the day with a good source of affordable converting traffic. Heck even if you focused on one traffic method, show me exactly how to do it, and the projected complications and strategies to overcome them. For $500 I expect in short to be able to get traffic from it and I expect it to be more than a general overview which I could get for free in other places. And honestly speaking, although Mr. Reese seems to be a stand up guy, his traffic “secrets” were lacking the “secrets” which I was hoping for and did not give much more than general stuff, although I liked his LSI comments in the program and I thought that was really good.

Disclaimer: I didn’t go thru the entire course, which I still have, but the chapters which I did go through and regarding the topics that were dealt with, I felt that it were dealt with just to generally and did not give the topic justice.

So will I buy his $97 Product?

I haven’t ruled it out, possibly.

    Why?

Because his product did have value in it, just not near as much as I thought it would and honestly for a $100 who even expects much value for what is sold at these prices in the IM industry usually. At this price I am expecting some good general advice and something which I haven’t heard before and not the show you how most people want or breakthrough strategies which most people only wish for and which was applied with this launch!

I hope I didn’t offend anyone, including you John but I felt I had an obligation to say what I believe to be going on with this launch!

P.S. I may be wrong but I do believe you to be a stand up guy! And that’s some great marketing with the perceived value strategy! Hands down! Cant’ blame you for that, its business and thats’ what your marketing!

P.S. In many ways I think you can learn a lot more from watching the gurus than reading their books! Take notes!

  88. Ron Ruggles - North Carolina Says:

    John

Thanks for thinking of the little guy! Sounds like you remember when… You are exactly correct, if I can purchase Money Mindset for $97 I will come back to the well for more expensive tools, I beleive in reinvesting in my business. ~ Ron

  89. Brian Says:

    Check out Megan’s website.
    She certainly looks real.
The evidence is there for all to see, unlike this guru’s credentials.
Take a look you won’t be disappointed.
    Just click on her name.

  90. Gillian G. Says:

    I am really, really disappointed.

I signed up right away because this course had come at just the right time for me when I badly need to reboot my brain and make a breakthrough. Sure, $497 is a lot of money to me and I would have to stay up till 2 o’clock in the morning to take part in the live webinar, but to talk with John Reese, I’d do it.

I wrote down all the dates in my diary, I cleared the decks for the next day’s activities so that I could spend time following the course and I was quite prepared to put in the maximum effort to do the assignments etc.

I’m devastated. As someone has already said - why not do both? John, you could use the experience of the live $497 webinars as materials for the $97 version.

    What a letdown.

  91. Gary Vurnum Says:

Welcome to the world of the self-improvement publisher, John :-)

You and I both know that people get 100x more return on investment in the long-term (both in lifestyle and monetary) from changing their mindset than from any biz-opp program.

Yet - because it isn’t always easy for prospective customers to see this value without the promise of $$$ at the end of it - they can’t see the huge value.#

Of course, there will always be people interested in it who CAN see the value - funnily enough, it’s the more successful people that do…but marketing to them can be…interesting! lol!

Sure - there are ways to get around this, but as my frequent conversations with my brother, Mark, proves - the ‘how-to’ market is such an easier sell! lol!

Dan Kennedy always says that you can’t use the excuse of ‘Yeh, but my market is different’ yet (and I quote) he also said…

“To succeed in the self-improvement niche you need to have deep pockets.”

  92. Jan Says:

    hi John

Interesting to see you change plans so quickly and decisively. I think its a good idea to lower the price etc. Is the mindset teaching something you also felt like doing more, after your involvement with Tony Robbins? In any case, im a psychologist and “will-be” coach and am pretty interested in this kind of thing, so I hope it will be a success for you and customers.

I think you will never be able to please everybody with IM or coaching, but sticking to what you personally believe to be true, valuable, correct etc, will mean the right customers will buy your product, and I think the mindset course will mean that there will be a lot of them. It is in my mind THE most important thing that anyone needs to learn and make part of their makeup BEFORE the start to do anything with IM. I’m still suffering from not having done that…slowly getting up.

    Good luck

    Jan

  93. Rick Says:

    Sounds great John.

Although I think you are selling yourself short, you are coming in with a good price for some people.

  94. Susan Says:

You are a class act John Reese, I knew that when I saw you speak at Mass Control. I had the 4 weeks of classes marked out on my calendar and yes I was one of the ones that was waiting until the last minute to buy:). Really appreciate the flexibility that the new format will present (and of course the price).

I think the $97 price tag will allow many others to jump on board to see in you what I saw in San Diego.

Wishing you continued success in all you do!

    Susan

  95. Shawn Says:

You’re truly the marketing expert by using this tactic of lowering the price!
I’ve always wanted to buy your product, but the price is too high for me.

And now you’ve got my attention.
    Superb strategy~!

  96. Azzam Says:

    Your the Don!

  97. Bioniclily Says:

As a repeat customer of yours John, I do appreciate getting such a huge discount like this. BUT, I sensed a bit of sarcasm and wonder if you will regret this choice down the road. It’s your road your going on so whatever works for you, is the way it should be.

This product caught my attention, as I know this is a VITAL part of whether my business will exist or not. Yep, that crucial. I joined a membership, that deals with this very premise. The entrepreneur that is offering this membership is highly regarded. I trust his leadership as I do yours, I respect it. If you both are devoting this much time to this project as you are, have the right pulse of your followers, your customers speaks volumes.

I get alot of emails asking. WHAT are you waiting for. What is holding you back. THIS is IT.
    Talk soon,

  98. Net Biz In Buzz » ‘Why You Should Listen To Your Customers’ by John Reese Says:

[…] Why You Should Listen To Your Customers… […]

  99. Erik Byre Says:

Well, this came as a big surprise to me, and not a good one. There are plenty of $97 products being sold. Those who can`t afford to INVEST $497 for this service, will easily find help in cheaper and even free products.

The freeline has been moved so far, that many marketers are giving away more valuable products/information for free, than what is inside the product(s) they want you to buy further down the road.

I was really looking forward to a more personal coaching from you, rather than “communication” through an e-book.

Hope you change your mind, once again.

  100. Roman Says:

I do not agree with the majority.

I think, it was not cheap, but John Reese tranings are made with good quality and high value.

I am a bit disapointed because I subscribed yesterday, and I was enthusiast about the beginning. Alos the fact, that you wanted keeping a certain amount of participants, to be able to answer more questions.

Anyway, I live in Switzerland (Pilatus Mount, John ;-)), and I would have to wake up at 2 am in the morning, to follow live…

For me it was fine and good priced. We will always find people, that would say, they want the stuff for $9,70 instead of $97…

For me John, you can keep the money and put it as “credit”, for the following materials you will sell, because you deserve it and I am sure I will make money from it.

I am not sure you should “listen” to all the comments around here, most of them can add “some” value, but all of them are not valuable…

Following Tony Robbins, you and some others folks, open my eyes of one thing:

The big problem that the majority have around here, is a lack of great, big, intelligent action… they think they will buy the “stuff”, listen and… … and???

and what? move yourself, go into action, go make a lot of mistakes (Eben), learn, retry, rebuild, refail… and one day, you will understand what I am talking about..

John, I do not know if you can do this, but keep the money, and put it as credit for the next great thing you are going to deliver…

(if someone think I am a true fan of John, do not get me wrong here, I am a true fan of valuable stuff, that’s it, and it tooks me 5 years to earn what I am earning today, the road is hard, but I will never go back ;-)

  101. Ian Says:

John, I take my hat off to you. Not many marketers would have the balls to do what you’ve just done! I was going back and forth as to whether to go for the course at $497.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the content your proposing, however, I would of missed the live webcasts and Q&As as I live in the UK and the time difference was too much. But a home study course and only $97…. this is a no brainer. Really looking forward to the (re)lauch.

    Cheers, Ian

  102. Phil Henderson Says:

    John

I take my hat off to you…

It truly is a great thig you are doing. I too have noticed that many people are still affected by todays financial events, indeed I felt the force of the events first hand, having my long-term, six figure consultancy contract pulled 12 months short.

This has had a dramatic effect on my lifestyle; however, it has also given me the opportunity to work on my dream now and create my own future online by helping others less fortunate.

Once again I bow down to you sir

I just wish there were more people like you in the World

  104. Tom Burns Says:

You are a multi-millionaire, who has aligned himself with: Tony Robbins, Frank Kern and Eben Pagen–who are also multi-millionaires. That is great. I applaud your efforts.

Obviously, since you don’t need the money, the question becomes: why would you consider asking $497 or even $97 for your newest product?

In the economy we are in, even people who have the money, don’t want to part with it–regardless of how good the content is in Money Mindset.

    So, what is the answer?

As your friend Eben Pagen would tell you, “give away the free line.” Just, give it
    away.

How will this benefit those who receive it and for you who give it free? It could change their lives forever, or it could be seen as just another “ego expanding fluff piece of content.” You could gain more respect, trust and presense in the market place–depending of course on how good the content is received. Or, you could alienate the already over-saturated market even more, and nobody would care.

Right now, I respect you as a marketer, and I have bought some of your products.
I, also, have products from the people, mentioned in the first paragraph.

A common thread that becomes evident when people reach a certain level of success is, they also reach a certain level of awareness, where they want to give back to their community, church, charities, universities, etc. This could be their legacy.

So, my closing question to you is, how can you and your friends, mentioned in the first paragraph, offer and deliver the greatest benefit to mankind as your most remembered legacy to current and future generations of marketers?

I would enjoy reading or hearing your response.

  105. Stuart Says:

    Come on Tom.

The man has to pay the bills.

Do you give your services away?

I notice that your link is an affiliate link to opportunity.com - Way to go in the hypocrisy stakes.

If you care so much about mankind, how about at least linking to it directly, and not sullying your hands with that nasty money stuff?

  106. Cindy Myers Says:

John, I hope you’ll release the Homestudy course soon. Will this be a digital version or a physical product? I vote for a digital version. Maybe you could share some of your stuff as a free pre-training soon, because I think you still have some of the stuff ready, that you prepared for the webinars.

  107. Bryon Says:

Tom said “As your friend Eben Pagen would tell you, “give away the free line.” Just, give it
    away. ”

Calling for people to actually have virtue is useless. They either have and willingly use or they do not.

Marketing is marketing. We are in this to make money.

Since you mentioned the state of the economy. I am surely one who has been affected directly
    directly.

    A thought….

Just look at the very top leaders of our (US) nation and what they do or not do. You would think that the president of the United States would take office and immediately suspend his salary indefinately and call all of his constituents in governmant to do the same. Things that the people are being forced to do. Instead they put even more burden on us all. They are in this for the money. Take the money away and 99% would jump ship…. So much for serving people.

    All just opinion of course.

John I have always been impressed by your teaching and marketing style. I acually used your Reboot Your Brain strategy successfully. I look forward to the new course.

  108. Z Solomons Says:

Hi John, all I can say is that I am shocked on what you doing, but really very happy and cant wait to get my hands on it.. Also the fact you want to help everyone means alot. ..

  109. Vinegar Says:

    bleep.

  110. Ron Reed Says:

Wow, John, this one is good! Almost better than the $1MM Day.

This campaign is STACKED with innovated marketing lessons…

To me, you just built up a marketing campaign that intimately
matched the market, analyzed the feedback from the market,
then FORCED itaway only to announce it’s comeback in the
capacity of what the market truly wants.

Very impressive, sir. Mind if I use this strategy? No?…

    … good! I’m stealing it! ;) Thanx!

    Ron Reed

  111. Stew Says:

    Hey John,

It is great that you, Tony Robbins, and others are using these economic hardtimes to benefit others.

I’m sure canceling this class in favor of a more accessible product will eventually bring its own rewards.

  112. Stuart Says:

“It is great that you, Tony Robbins, and others are using these economic hardtimes to benefit others.”

Hmmm… Think that is a little naive Stew.

I neither think a saint or a sinner tag is required for someone trying to sell a product.

John and Tony Robbins are not charities.

It is perfectly reasonable to charge for stuff.

But don’t get to swept up with an image of halo’s.

The class probably didn’t sell very well. And so John made a business decision to reformat it.

It may even be that he he will ‘give it away’ in the end, maybe as an incentive to join opportunity.com. That would be my hunch. I suspect we are in the middle of a well laid plan, that rollercoasters us to that outcome. The uptake will be much higher now that people have this idea in their heads of $495. Who knows.

Good for him. Its smart to put a perceived value of $495 (and lets be honest it is only that - Is this honestly going to be of more value then say spending $8 to read ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill?) and then ‘giving it’ to us for ‘only’ $97.

I sometimes think that internet marketers have lost sight of reality. It is as though money is meaningless and grows on trees.

From what I can see Tony Robbins has a lot of ‘good friends’. Made mostly it seems when he is about to enter a new market (in this case internet marketing), and wants to piggyback on others lists, expertise and contacts to do it quickly to sell product.

Nothing wrong with that. But don’t kid yourself either that Mr Robbins motives are quite as selfless as the image machine would have you believe.

    Regardless, its all good.

Its just another product. And ultimately no-one needs it. The formula for success is stated in any of hundreds of books that you can pick up for $10.

    You have to:

    1/ Know your outcome.
2/ Know why you want it and what it will give you.
    3/ Take action.
4/ Change your approach until it works.

That’s it. Its simply that folks think there is some magic bullet, or some missing secret that John or Tony are going to reveal.

The ’secret’ folks is that they are busy creating products and selling them. Not watching courses. Or writing ultimately pointless forum posts like this.

    Anyhow, good luck to all.

Frame this in any way you like.

The gold is in your hearts and its manifestation comes from your actions.

I for one wish everyone lot’s of success, and look with interest at how this plays out.

  113. John Reese Says:

STEVE - Sorry, I just realized I missed your comment. You’re right, I did sell Auction Secrets (back in 2001-03?) for $97. But I don’t consider that a ‘marketing’ product; i.e. having more to do with growing a business and Internet Marketing. I consider my start selling to the IM industry in 2004 when I did my first workshop.

STUART - I can assure you, there’s no evil scheme taking place here. :) This wasn’t some pre-designed, calculated strategy. I simply got so much feedback that I felt it was the right thing to do to sell it for a lot less. That’s all.

  114. redone Says:

Certainly sounds like an interesting experiment in marketing. We are conducting our own as we speak. Truth is if there is “real” value in something or some product then its worth purchasing. Now, whether the price tag of almost five hundreds dollars was over the top from the start is another debate.

  115. Stuart Says:

    All Good John.

I didn’t think the scheme particularly ‘evil’ in any case :-)

    I like the mindset stuff.

Most Tony Robbins products are worth listening too, and hopefully your product will be good.

As with all this stuff, in a way you have to be content that some folk will hate it, most feign liking it, but not really do anything with it, and a very few will have an ‘A-Ha’ moment that will produce tangible benefits.

None of those outcomes are really in your hands to influence John. Just depends on whether something resonates with someone at a particular moment.

It is interesting reading peoples comments though. The ‘value’ psychology is an odd one.

Some folk hate the fact that their $495 purchase has been reduced to $97. The product will ultimately end up being the same, but in their eyes the value has dropped significantly. They create illusions that for example the original included personal attention, the possibility to ask questions etc. But in reality, it masks the fact that it is easier to feel like you are spending your time ‘usefully’ when a course is both:

    1/ Expensive.
    2/ More exclusive

Neither of which actually affects the mindset stuff you will actually be teaching.

In reality what they are buying is not a mindset course, but an excuse to not have to think for themselves for one more day as they watch it.

And then there are those who will move mountains.

Anyhow, regardless. I wish you all the best with it.

Make it something you would be proud to give to your son (if you ever have one :-))

I’m curious John. This has made me think. I have just finished writing a book on traffic strategies. I was going to release it as a print on demand book. But I find myself having doubts, given my thoughts above.

Namely whether a $17.95 physical book immediately has less impact because it is too cheap, and hence has little perceived value (regardless of the fact that the content is good and original)? (ie Not PLR bollocks or rehashed stuff)

I have this 220 page book I have written, and I find myself wondering whether to put it out as a more expensive ebook?

What do you think? Book or Ebook? And what price point? (The reason it was a $17.95 book was simply because that is what books seem to cost, regardless of how good they are)

Anyhow, just an afterthought, because the discussion brought it to mind :-)

    Good luck with the product.

    Stuart

  116. Sandy Hall Says:

    Hi John, Sandy Hall here…
Wow John! That’s full on integrity if I do say so myself.
I knew I liked you for a reason. LOL.

I was all set, this weekend, to spend the $495 for your Money Mindset course.

Then when I received the email from you about this blog post,
I was flabbergasted and elated at your decision to stop the sale
and change the format to digital download, just from feedback.

Way to go John. I’ll be one of the first to buy the digital version when it is released.

Thanks for your honesty in business and everything else.

  119. paul Says:

after viewing the trail video, i believe “money mindset” will be great products.
however, as to mindset or something like, “richard bandler” is the authority who i trust.

  120. Dan Says:

Wow, it certainly got a reaction that’s for sure. I’m going to post something completely different. I am not going to stand here and say you used to be cool and now you suck, but I am not going to applaud your decision to lower the price either… infact, I think you are doing everyone a dis-service (I know, you can please some of the people some of the time… and I also know I am in the minority)

If someone pays $97 for something, they watch it, feel like they have learned something, don’t actually do anything, and still think they have got their money worth. Their decision to purchase subconciously was not a bad one, because they got their $97 of value in what they learned.

Generally, if someone pays $500 to thousands for something, to just learn some new concept is not enough. So that they can make their decision to buy “right”, they follow through and make some money. A funny concept I know, but it’s true.

You could get a $2000 course, give it away free to the exact same people that paid $2000 for it, and I guarantee that the results would be significantly worse. No one would act on the info, because they don’t attach any value to it.

Aside from all that, I think that by prostituting this product, you are doing the marketing community as a whole a dis-service. You already mentioned, and I completely agree that marketing products (and I believe all quality info products) are too cheap as it is.

Most people will disagree with this, and the problem is that people get their concept of worth not from the quality of the content, but references… ie. from the other courses available. Youself, Frank, and the other big players have been doing a great job in providing references where these courses are going for thousands, and slowly it has been becoming more acceptable to sell products for closer to what they are really worth.

I feel like you are undoing some of this good work by going and prostituting what i assume will be a quality product for peanuts. How are the rest of us supposed to sell something for what it is really worth, when people will say “Well John Reece just sold his last product for $97, and he is John Reece”.

You always have been a leader in the industry, and I think on this one you are letting us down a bit. You know as well as I do that anyone can afford $500 if it was important to them. I bet if their TV broke they would find $500 for a new one. It is about priorities. If your business is not worth $500 to you, then you don’t deserve the help that this course could bring.

So John, you are pandering to whiners that don’t care enough about their own business to spend $500. I might have paid $500 for it, i won’t be buying it for $97. If you value the course so low, why would I want to spend money on it.

Ok, I’m sure you are sick of being beaten up on this blog. I know what it’s like… you get 200 positive comments, and 3 negative ones, and you always think more about the negative ones. Well, that is what i always do, and it frustrates me that i do that.

So I want to finish on a positive note. You are an inspiration and a leader in the field. I believe that everything you have done you have done with integrity, and I also believe you have made this price change for the right reasons with your heart in the right place.

    Cheers,

    Dan.

  121. Franck Silvestre Says:

Good to see that someone cares about others!

    Franck

  122. Brian Says:

    Dan,

If your post is not just pure spin and paid propaganda then I will go hee for tiggy.

This crap is such a con. It is like watching a soap opera.

I can’t believe anyone could fall for it.

Go over to 30DC….you get exactly the same stuff for free.

  123. Roger Says:

    @Brian

Come on now… You think we’re all BS’ers here posting comments on this blog?

I don’t frequently do that but I have read some of the posts here today and I have gotten a great insight into the IM minds around. Not that I did already have plenty though ;)… I still do not sell to this market.

    @John

    I’m still confused…

Why DID you have to lower the price?

More importantly, why couldn’t you just create a home study and release it after a month or two which would have been simply a recording of whatever you’ve already done?

Some people … your old and “regular” customers are already successful, and if they’re already making millions they might not be able to see it on their time planner to devote time on this stuff like a classroom… they’d much rather pay out $10K to meet you personally and discuss it in the form of a mastermind.

Others, who did not succeed… might have moved on. Big Deal? You know the answer… no need to tell me.

Its one thing to help people out… its another to totally deconstruct your business model to do that.

Today you have reinforced my belief that imitating any human completely blindly is like hitting yourself in the head… that too with an axe.

    Didn’t like it. At all.

    -Roger

  124. John Reese Says:

ROGER - unfortunately, there’s no easy solution. I tried to do what I thought would be best overall. For example, if I continued to teach the live class and then take the recordings and offer them at the lower price, it’s not really fair to all the people that paid the much higher price. I, ultimately, decided to lower the price because this is a new project that I really want to make available to as many people as possible while still making it a profitable product for the company. And we did receive more feedback than ever about the price being too high and so I decided to listen and respond based on that feedback. Thanks for taking the time to express your take on it!

  125. Pete Robertson Says:

    John

It’s your business and you made a decision based on feed back from those interested in your product.

Although the original price IS/WAS out of reach for a lot of people the lower price will definitely sell a larger number but might not exceed the total dollar volume, IT’S still your decision and you don’t have to answer to ANYONE except yourself.

BRAVO for doing what you did.

    Pete

  126. Gillian G. Says:

    John,

You say you are listening to your customers - but your customers are those who actually bought the product, not the people who didn’t.

If you get it wrong and you aim at the wrong market at the wrong price then that’s your problem, not mine. I paid you $497 and I expected you to deliver what you advertised. I don’t want the money back, I want the Money Mindset program that you were offering.

If you are a serious business person (as I am, and as I believe you are) you have to make judgements about the commercial viability of your products. Once you advertise, take orders and commit to your customers it is them that you have to please, not the people who want something else.

    Do, please, grow up.

  127. jm Says:

Have to agree with Gillian G., wow Gillian you hammered it spot on! Boys and Girls, Copy Gillian’s words and Post it in your desk until you “GET IT”. Thanks for pointing this out, this is a GEM.

  128. John Reese Says:

GILLIAN - you’ll be able to get the exact same thing for $97. The only difference is I will pre-record all the lessons in the studio (to eliminate some rambling of a live call). All the people that ordered at $497 will get access to me for questions, just like they would during the live class. So it IS the same product.

  129. Stuart Says:

People - Why do you want to pay more?

    It’s totally bizarre.

The guy is selling you the same thing for $97 instead of $497.

Its a product. Not a magic wand.

You just have to stop watching courses and get busy doing something.

He was never going to be holding your hand anyway.

The grim reality is that you would be better off not buying any more courses, and just use the stuff in your own brain to come up with something to sell.

All these guys are in the business of selling stuff. That’s it.

You have hurt feelings because he wants to charge you LESS??

This thread has been intrigueing. It has proved to me that ‘value’ is irrelevant. Everything is perception.

Some of you guys care more that you perceive he has somehow not followed through on his word. When he has already said quite clearly that the same product (only in a different format) will be produced.

You are angry because you had dates and times and had the expectation of the program. Felt like you were in an ‘exclusive’ club, and were about to be shown the magic ’secrets’. And also because you are not convinced its going to get made. Who knows. Time will tell.

I get the irritation. Making a buying decision uses up mental energy, and I reckon you feel a little ‘robbed’, having expended it in your original decision to buy, even though the program may show up in the end in a different format.

But Watching Products doesn’t make people rich.

    Only action does that.

He has done you a favor by reminding you that handing him a large check is not the answer to your prayers.

If you feel that mad then unsubscribe from his emails and don’t buy the product.

I wonder how many of the people who bought the original Traffic Secrets course are now rich?

I doubt its more then 5% (Probably much less)

But that’s not the products ‘fault’. It was a good enough product, but its not going to jump out of the CD box and get your arse working.

Don’t be mad at John. That’s crazy. He is no saint, and frankly I haven’t seen much evidence over the last few years of getting his emails that helping for free is too far up the agenda any more.

Both this blog, or any of the product forums he set up are pretty much absent of much actual free content. Any there is is generally a prelude to a pitch for something.

But, its not like he has some public obligation to help everyone who asks (or anyone for free from what I can see). He is in business. He wants to get paid. That’s cool. His products are generally good. So whatever, they are worth going through.

But this class (in whatever format) is just a course. Not a magic button that if you push solves all your inaction problems.

I can’t remember the last time I wasted so much time commenting on someone else’s forum post. So hell, I guess the guy must have some magic power!

    I am curious people.

What is it honestly you think he is going to say that you think will make that much difference to your life?

If you are that worried about ‘Mindset’ then just go through Tony Robbins ‘Personal Power’ program. That’s cheap enough, and its all about changing your mindset.

Come on. Let’s turn this comments thread into a positive (seeing as my arse is wasteing so much of its life force being here anyway).

What is your top tip to change someone’s mindset and change their lives?

    Mine is:

1/ Get Busy. Take action. Stop watching ‘Mindset’ products. Start selling ‘Mindset’ products.

  130. John Reese Says:

STUART - somehow I overlooked your previous question about your $17.95 book and whether I thought that was a good pricing strategy. If the book has a lot of value (and it sounds like it does if it helps people get traffic) then you’re underpricing it. I would price it at least at $47 or $97. If you going to create some video tutorials you could charge even more.

  131. Stuart Says:

JOHN - Is there any chance you could take a look at it, and let me know what you think?

I am quite proud of it. I genuinely put a lot of time and effort into writing it, but like any ‘proud father’ I am perhaps a little too close to it to be impartial about how good or otherwise it is.

This isn’t about JVing or anything. I just want to offer the absolute best I can to people, and would really value your opinion.

  132. Dan Says:

BRIAN: You are a knob. I spent a page bashing John, telling him how his actions are not those of a leader in internet marketing, and you are saying it is paid propaganda. John, I think you should get your money back from me!

STUART: You make some good points, and some not so good points. On the one hand, I agree… people need to realise that just watching this stuff won’t make them rich… they need to take action… but I think you downplay the importance of a quality course. You can take action all day long, but if you are not taking the right actions, it won’t get you anywhere. Educating yourself is really important.

You talk about just getting out there and doing it… do you do that? I noticed you site has an Alexa rank of over 18 million, which means 1 of 2 things… you are not taking action yourself, or you are, and you are not taking the right actions. So you either need to practice what you preach and take action, or perhaps there are more value to these courses than you thought and you should give it a go.

  133. John Reese Says:

STUART - Please follow up with me after this month. Right now I am totally swamped and wouldn’t have time to review it. (Just being honest.)

  134. Stuart Says:

DAN - I have put zero effort into promoting that particular site Dan. I haven’t fully decided what to do with it yet, so it currently only has a couple of pages of content just to make it more than an empty page :-)

I love the name though. So thought I would give it the link love :-)

With regards to quality courses. I don’t downplay their importance at all.

It is of course important to do the right things. And I am sure John’s course will be good when it gets here. I like his stuff. But there are already of ton of mindset products around. So, there is no point in anyone waiting around sitting on their hands.

I would start by reading these books and courses: (off the top of my head)

How to Stop Worrying and Start Living - Dale Carnegie
Personal Power 2 - Tony Robbins
Ready, Fire, Aim - Michael Masterson
The Path of Least Resistance - Robert Fritz
The Power of Full Engagement - Tony schwartz

  135. Stuart Says:

    Ok John. No probs :-)

I will get in touch once the dust has settled :-)

How would I do that John? (If I email - contact@income.com will you actually get to read that? I imagine you get deluged with emails, and wouldn’t want it to get lost)

  136. Megan Donovan Says:

John, do you have a timeframe, when you’ll be releasing the MM homestudy course?

  137. John Reese Says:

STUART - yes, that contact address will work. My team will forward it to me.

MEGAN - I’m hoping to release it within 2 weeks. :)

  138. Roger Says:

    John,

Thanks for replying. You are changing perceptions here. And guess what? I thought I was pretty impermeable to the forum talk, but I do realize I wasn’t.

Yes, I kind of see what you mean… And now I am beginning to feel you are actually doing this to help people.

Here’s the rub: I pay $9 for a 40 page book. Will I read it? Maybe… if I get around… if I have the time… maybe I will read it. Now, another man like me pays $99 for the same book? Will he read it? Hell yeah. Will he take action? Maybe… maybe not. Then the writer of this book decides to go ahead and create a home study on DVD’s… just 5 DVD’s, and I’m sure you agree it doesn’t take that long to create it… once you know what you’re talking about. A third man, just like me… gets the 40 page book, 100 page workbook (which is essntially blank, just stuff for the customer to do) and the 5 DVD’s showing how to do whatever is said in the book… like a real case study, pays $997 for all of this. Will he go through it? Sure thing. Is there a higher probability of him taking action? I’d say yes… much higher.

What if he paid $10K to personally meet you and learn this from you one on one? I’d say probability would increase to 90% or more.

    Do you agree?

Its not just about the value you deliver. It’s the percieved value that your folks hold in their heads. What is it worth, really?

And I guess, in that sense, you’ve demonstrated pertty well that this course is worth $497 to you and some others who purchased it.

But what is really missing is the personal interaction. At least the folks who would’ve paid $497 would be looking forward to getting a couple of direct emails from you. That’s the kicker. Just the personal touch alone can make many more success stories out of a lot fewer students. Do you agree with me here?

    -Roger

    @Stuart

If you can do a live case study of the traffic strategies showing them in action making money for you… you can charge much more than $97 for that… let alone $17.

However, do not underestimate the power of short reports. Lets say you have 10,000 people on your list and they’re all addicted to buying these short reports from you. You can put out one short report worth $17 each month and do the math even if 1,000 of them buy it form you.

So while in terms of values and percieved values, higher price point strategy looks great, when it comes to really building a list and starting a new business… shorter reports will do you much good.

  139. Roger Says:

    John,

Let me clarify my above comment a little.

I meant- it doesn’t matter how many people get access to your product… you could put all your heart and soul into it and give it away for free for maximum circulation, and it still won’t matter.

What really matters is how many successful students you got out of it.

How many people were actually helped?

How many truly could add something to their bottomlines?

Now, I know you can’t slap me through my monitor for not taking action, you can rest assured that if I’d spend $5K on a course, I WILL follow up and take action. I will do something about it. And the same me will get lazy when I buy ther same course for $50. And I will certainly not put as much effort into making it a success as I’d have done if you had charged $5K here.

You know, and I know that marketing products are under-rated.

The most expensive products… those with million dollar potentials and stratgies go around for what? $2K? $5K seminars? That’s it?

$5K is NOT that much when it comes to earning online. Heck $50k is small enough once oyu know how to leverage the internet.

So its not about how many people buy your curse… its about how many do something with it and change just something in their lives thanks to it.

Not saying your course is bad or evil… I’m sure you get this by now. I’m just saying that perception is a bitch. You see what I mean?

    -Roger

  140. Jer Says:

What makes this course valuable is John is living the life we all want.
He used to be 100k in debt, and some how still succeeded.

Changing your mindset is a process and John has been through it.
So we can learn what he did to overcome, being paralyzed at the computer,
or buying a product and not doing anything, or doing a little and then stopping, etc.

I know this is true because I’m going through it, I’ve stopped buying so many courses,
and am sticking with seo and building backlinks because that is what I know.

Now I am coming up with a simple repeatable system to get backlinks,
instead of doing all the different ways to get backlinks. Plus I put my plan on a white board so I see it everyday, along with my goals and what I need to do to get there. Plus everyday I keep telling myself it is possible.

It is a never-ending process of making yourself better.

From masterytv, Tom Wood said, success is not so much about the money or the freedom, which is great, but about the person you become in order to achieve what you did.

Imagine being the type of person that can have everything taken away from him/her financially, but you have the skills, mindset, and confidence to get it all back and more. Now that is Freedom, from fear and worry about anything.

You never have to worry about money again, because you know how to create wealth on the internet at anytime, in any economic condition. wow

ok, I’m looking at my whiteboard I know what I must do, I better get to it.

    :)

Its all in the numbers and in the heart. Did you ever make a decision that changed the way people approached you and perhaps even the people themselves changed. When your driving down the road and you turn the corner at a sign do you double guess thats where your gonna go,probably not. With this decision made whether having to do with return on investment or not,the fact that John believes these works will be a positive thing is pretty much his decision to fulfill. And for that John, you have my support.

  142. orenthian Says:

    Hey John,

I am a long time customer of yours. And, I’ll be honest — I feel like some of the other commenter(s) on this post.

It seems, from reading some of the other comments, your long time customers have hit a state of “Perpetual Irritation”. And it is only out of pure love, brother.

The last few products you have launched, paired with several of your choices for affiliate products to promote, have stepped outside your standard of excellence.

Most of us marketers are grown up now…

We have grown into a group of inhabited, well-informed marketing experts.

And through that growth we have devleoped a long list of high expectations which apply to each and every good, service and product we endeavour upon.

Money Mindset may be a great product, but even to Gillian’s comment, we are a little confused on if your fanatic customers are still of any importance.

Maybe it’s time to think about who your REAL customers are? I have been on your list since the $97 newsletter days.

I have purchased several products from you. Did I get a special offer? No. Did I get some sort of private invite? No.

What I did get was four emails to the same email address because I am on your list for different products.

Maybe it’s time to step outside yourself and re-evaulate who your real customers are?

Maybe bail on the “guru” click in the internet marketing niche all together?

    – That click of gurus has lost a lot of trust -
I almost feel like most of them are chasing the market now —

Those of us who are Reese ambasadors aren’t upset with you personally, we are more upset that you / no one is fullfilling our need anymore.

Nearly every new product that has been launched by a “guru” can’t meet the demands of the advanced marketer anymore. And even the products that meet the demands of the “newbie” find more value in the crowd than the product itself (Stompernet).

Someone needs to step in and be different again. We are dieing for someone to follow, but we don’t know who to follow anymore.

Look man - you got us here. That is something to be proud of.

And, I will continue to read your emails and follow you closely.

But here is my signing off comment…taking action is one thing… but in 2010 those of us who are well-informed consumers will continue to find ourselves in a perpetual state irritation if you don’t EXCEEED certain standards again.

If Money Mindset is going to be a $97… rock on with it. But, it finds a way to be remarkable…. like the Reese I know.

I focus not only on truly helping people but also on making my company wildly profitable.

Is that the Ultimate Win / Win or what.

  145. Toolie Says:

John, you are one of only 5 Internet Marketers I unreservedly recommend to my coaching students, and once again you’ve demonstrated why you’re in that group. Thank you for listening to your customers’ needs and making it possible for many more people to learn from you. I’ll be first in line with my $97!

    Thanks,

    Toolie

  146. Michelle Says:

John you mentioned in the comments above that the $97 release could be two weeks away which has now passed. When do you think you’ll have this ready for purchase?

Will you offer live coaching calls as an upsell perhaps? I’d be very interested in that if you did.

  147. Walter Daniels Says:

Contrary to most of the complainers, I see your point. It’s hard to make a product for true newbies, and just as hard for the really advanced. Trying to be all things for all people is no longer possible. To me, it’s time to know your niche, whether newbie, or expert. It’s all right to have an intro product, if you’re after the advanced market. Everyone starts at the bottom, and needs a map.
The “experts” need a map, like it or not, because they can lose sight of the basics. They just need a more detailed map than newbies do. Detailed in terms of how to go from one small area, to the larger ones they can reach. A newbie needs a local map, and the expert needs the large scale (State as opposed to City).
The complainers may not even need the kind of products you offer.

  148. Zenmed Scar Treatment Says:

I totally agree that we have to listen to our customers and more important is to listen to our employees. Sometimes it’s takes time, but it is worth it.

  149. pj: autoresponder junkie Says:

    hi

    it’s actually sad….
so many business owners, both online and offline, just don’t get it…

    rule no1:

the most valuable asset of any business is its customers.

    rule no 2:

you make money by giving people what they want (so how will u know if you don’t connect with them ?)

and yet we have brilliant role models like you we can learn from - you have proven your methods over and over again…

yet they simply carry on - and complain about business being bad…..:)

    i’m looking and learning, though….

    thanx
