BlogRush Rushes The Internet | |||
|
| ||
|
I was finally able to get a few hours of sleep… When I woke up I took a look at our stats and was BLOWN-AWAY by the viral explosion that BlogRush is having across the Internet. I have “Google Alerts” setup to notify when anyone writes about BlogRush and the alert notices are flying in left and right. It truly is INCREDIBLE. As many of you know, I’ve been marketing online “since the beginning” even in the early days of AOL & CompuServe, before the Web really took off. Well, in my 15+ years of online marketing experience I’ve *never* witnessed ANY marketing-related tool or service explode so fast in growth as I am seeing for BlogRush. It will be downright ’scary’ (I mean that in a good way) to see where BlogRush is in 6 months from now. AND WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN! We have so many awesome additions and new features planned! As I ‘briefly’ mentioned in a previous post, we’ll be adding a ’sister’ site to our Income.com Network called TrafficJam.com. This site will help ALL BlogRush members automatically generate even MORE traffic. Just wait and see. Our SOLE FOCUS is to continue to work hard to drive even MORE targeted traffic to our members’ sites. That’s it. Because with out that, nothing else matters. Thanks so much to everyone for their valued support, feedback, and encouragement! I wasn’t kidding when I posted last night that we were “going to make history!” at 3AM or so in the morning when we finally we able to launch. ~John |

Hello,
Is there a known problem when implementing the BlogRush widget on a BlogSpot.com blog?
I couldn’t get my code detected after I’ve carefully added it on my blog.
Can someone explain to me what happens? I can’t simply miss this out…
It’s the greatest thing I’ve found on the internet in the (at least) last year…
Thank you.

Hey John!
I love this new blogging program/widget/tool/whatever :D.
Can I ask you a question via email?
Please respond.
It deals with this site I found.

I’ll agree with that Shane. The buildup of tension, the wondering when it was going to happen, the anticipation, etc. Great marketing lesson for us all.
September 15th, 2007 at 8:35 pm
FOR THE RECORD… there was no ‘false’ anticipation created by our launch delays yesterday. I really wanted to get it launched at 6PM on Friday. Just wanted to point that out. I would never just “string people along” again and again and make them wait HOURS like all of your diehards that did last night. It WAS an amazing experience.
Ty - just ask your question here and I’ll answer it.
September 15th, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Hey John,
I’ve seen that BlogRush is only available for users who have a blog in english right now. I understand that this is only the beta version and that you are preparing much more features, including the ability to use BlogRush in different languages.
Just to say that if you need someone to make any kind of translation into FRENCH for your ventures, I’m in. I’m a french, live in France and I’m one of your customers since a few years. No doubt that a french version of BlogRush would be also a little revolution here, since a lot of people still have a hard time trying to get traffic to their blogs.
So, I’m deadly serious. Should you need someone for any french translations (or even more depending on your needs), just let me know.
Thank you for BlogRush and keep up the good work

September 15th, 2007 at 9:15 pm
Hey John,
Nice job on your site. Very clean but a little sparse… I won’t hold it against you though.
Let’s just say I’m looking forward to seeing how this thing unfolds. I’ve got it running on a few blogs and broadcast to my list.
You mentioned in a post that you are monitoring your Google Alerts, but I in case you somehow missed the obvious in the launch sequence and a million other more important things to do…
FWIW: When you do a Google search for “BlogRush” currently your site comes up 2nd but the listing looks like this “to see this player. BlogRush © 2007″ because you have almost no plain text on your index page. I would recommend at minimum to have a Meta Description tag in there.
On a side note, check out my modified version of your logo. I was just having fun.

Cheers,
Segovia
PS. Kudos on your aged domain!
September 15th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
Thanks again John, I can see that this will become a great way to get the traffic we all need.
thewild1… about Traffic Secrets 2, I cant speak for John, but I suspect that it will be a little while before it’s ready. It’s not even complete yet.
Question about BlogRush…. I totally understand that this is still in beta…
I am just seeing the same feeds being displayed over and over again.
But will the feeds change?
Question 2 if you dont mind… Will the referral stats be up in the 24-48 hrs that it currently tells us? Or is that just a template for now until out of beta?
Thanks,
Joel

Great looking widget. I’ve just installed it on my new blog. There seems to be a slight issue however. When I click on a post under category, the widget moves out of the sidebar on to the left.
Is this due to the width of the widget? On the main pag it looks fine.
Would appreciate if anyone can help.
Thanks!

Got a couple questions:
1) How come the same sites/articles keep getting posted up on the widgets?
2) Won’t the top blogs with high traffic already take the place of the blogs with low traffic? There should be something that balances the amount of times that blogs will get linked.

Amazing! I saw my blog post title being shown here on income.com

And I love how I can tell in my web stats that the visitor came from a BlogRush widget, and also what site it was on.

Absolute Genius!
One question: if there isn’t enough traffic yet for a particular category, the websites that are listed on the widget are not BlogRush-registered yet, right?
Or do we assume that all listings need to be registered?

September 16th, 2007 at 9:49 am
Great tool and I look forward to seeing how it works in traffic generation over the next month. Two questions though (one of which was already asked here):
1) Why do the same five blogs keep showing up (I’m in the sports category and would love to see “fitness” added as a category)?
2) When I click the link to those five blogs, none of them have the widget displayed on their pages. What’s the deal with that?

matt,

I am very exited about this new product. And I have no patience to try it. Unfortunatelly my blog is in bulgarian. I hope that foreign languages will soon be available.
I am willing to help as a volunteer for the translation in bulgarian if help needed.
September 16th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
Since I installed BlogRush, I have had a recurring issue. Part of the time, the widget shows up just fine. Part of the time, I get the text “Invalid URL” instead of the widget.
When the “Invalid URL” shows up, the Dashboard shows an error for my blog: “Parse Error: No posts in feed”. Initially, I thought BlogRush was checking my feed at the same time I was republishing the blog with template changes. However, I have made no changes today and it went from working correctly this morning to having an error this afternoon.
Although I don’t see many people reporting this problem now, I find it difficult to believe I’m the only one with this issue. I use Blogger and publish to my own website, not username.blogspot.com. I used the atom.xml feed when I set up my blog.
Is the atom.xml feed a problem?
Should I “Add A Blog” and re-enter my blog using the rss.xml feed?
And how do we delete a blog if we set it up incorrectly?
For those of us who keep seeing the same five sites, (and those five sites are without widgets,) I suspect it has to do with the category we’re in…
The widget on our blog isn’t going to show links to our own blog, so if there aren’t any other sites signed up in that category, it needs to put something there. It would look really bad if it were blank.
Is that what’s happening, John?
Thanks again!
-Anita

thanks for the help matt, but now I get an error saying:
Feed has invalid format. (Parse Error: Invalid feed format)
Now what?
September 16th, 2007 at 8:08 pm
I’m pulling out my hair!!!! I followed the video for word press, and still no blogrush.
I can type in a title and the title shows up on my sidebar. I then paste the code and nothing. When I return to the text box in the dashboard, the code is gone. Am I doomed not to get blogrush into my site friendswin.thejv-press.com?

Haresear,
I have the same problem. I even tried adding the blog again using the rss.xml feed and got the same error you received–”Feed has invalid format. (Parse Error: No posts in feed)”
I looked at the code for both files, and they are identical.
In the settings for the Blogger feed, I have “Allow Blog Feed” set to “Short”. What about you? Is yours set to “Short” or “Full”?

Hi;
If you’re getting the “Invalid URL†error when you try and use the widget on your site, then changet this line:
blogrush_feed = “xxxxxxxxâ€
to
var blogrush_feed = “xxxxxxxxâ€
obviously the x’s represent YOUR id number, you only need to add the word “var†and a space to the beginning of the line.

Re: Barry. You need a blog to utilize this service. You won’t be able to add the widget to just an ordinary part of your site. I think it works for most blog services with the exception of LiveJournal and a couple of others.
September 17th, 2007 at 11:38 am
I have to say that the Blogrush widget seems to be getting better and
better each hour that goes by.
I’ve been clicking through and checking out a lot of other marketers
blogs and everything seems very relevant.
I’ve only checked out the marketing blogs, but it seems that the URL’s
being displayed in Blogrush are very targeted.
It will be very interesting to see if it gets even better as the week goes
on.
Good luck John. I know you must have your hands full!

All this “stuff” Rather reminds me of dealing via my
Bizopps Mag waaaay back in 1989 in the Uk
featuring two guys with the surnames “Mycock and Hiscock”
got very embarrassing and confusing let me tell you!!
Now…. Whose blog? MY Blog! My Blog? HIS Blog!!
Sheeesh!
Moving swiftly on…
Look, I outshined most in the Direct Mail biz
in the UK way back when, but that was then, this is now,
and I aint the brightest light in the IM sky
when it comes to “codes’n stuff” but what I want
to know is HOW/WHERE do I get one of those RSS
feed “thangs” and how do I load it into my blog
at apsense??
Best John,
Kevin.

name me Richard)
Liverpool UK
P.S.
How’s this for positive feedback from a comment
left at MY blog….
“Brilliant.
The website is very informative, especially the introductory video.
Its quick and to the point. I just signed up and now I can only hope
that it does what it says it does. I created a new blog a week ago and
this is exactly what I need to drive traffic.
I’m really excited about this because the idea I had while signing up
and I would like to share this with every APSense user. While signing up,
when I got to the page to add friends email addresses, I went to Technorati
and found some of the most popular blogs on the web, went to their site and
found their contact emails, and added them. I have emails from BlogRush
going to 5 of the most popular blogs on the web. If one blog ends up joining
(and I found a few of the popular ones that were already members, including
johnchow.com who
had a post TODAY about BlogRush), that would equal quite a traffic burst.
September 17th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
Hi John,
As a few have already said, you need more categories. I have a poker blog and the closest category I could find is “Entertainment.” Having Britney Spears and Paris Hilton links are incredibly unrelevant. I can only imagine the entertainment blog owners that see gambling links on their site.
Please add a “Gambling” category.

I tried to install BlogRush on my WP Blog. I am using an older version of WP. BlogRush is too wide to install in either the left or right sidebar. Even when I tried to install it in the left sidebar, a problem occurred. The BlogRush widget was pushed too far to the right and ended up with about a half inch of it under the posts. Is there anything that can be done about this?
September 17th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Firstly, thanks John for BlogRush - looks like a great tool with great potential. I installed it on my blog http://itsanonlineworld.blogspot.com/ and so far its delivering relevant posts well.
I know you & your team will be rushed off your feet right now delivering the stats (can’t wait to see them!!) and I’m sure this will have cropped up before, but just in case, here’s a feature request: I’d love to be able to control the look & feel of the widget a-la-mybloglog or adsense. That’s it for now…I won’t bombard you with more!!
Hope it delivers the traffic I’m after :o)
Thanks

Can you tell me if we can use Adsense on our blogs at the same time as the widget, as I’ve been reading blogs about BlogRush, some have been saying we will need to take Adsense off to have the widget because they will clash.
I’m not sure if that is true because it’s a free service and a link exchange, but could you clarify for me?
Thanks

Hi John,
So I am working on the Joomla module version for the blogrush script which would simply require the user to insert the javascript unique ID number in the backend and it should all be up and running, I should be able to devise one that could become a plugin also for wordpress similar to the auctionads one I did for Jeremy Shoemoney.
However I was wondering about some changes to the way the blogrush script actually functions to make the plugin respond better. This obviously depends on what you already have in terms of modification for the script that is already planned out.

I have a couple of comments on the script:
First, why isn’t there a fitness category? That seems like a pretty huge topic.
Second, when there is a “technical problem” why not just not return anything, rather than returning a message that states that the site is down and to check back shortly? The site that it appears on isn’t down; it could confuse our readers.

John,
I am an italian blogger. I have read you are accepting only english blogs. My advice would be to add regional categories, such as Italian, Spanish, French, and rotate those blog just within the category (as I think Blogrush is already doing). If you think this might make sense, I can propose myself to moderate the Italian category. I hope you read this and give me feedback.
Thanks
Francesco

Hey John,
Whew! BlogRush is finally here. I know I’m relieved.
I’ll be joining within a few days.
I just have to set up a new wordpress blog, and I’ll be ready.
Thanks for this really innovative application
for generating massive amounts of traffic.
I just launched a new site for people to generate massive amounts of cash.
And as all sites, it relies on massive amounts of traffic.
So, your BlogRush application is just what I needed.
Thanks again,
Jeff Hall

The first results are in.
And they are not good. As a matter of fact they are very BAD!
Read this post at Problogger as well as comments:

Just as I thought.
The solution to the problem is to develop a plugin that will insert the code within content and produce related posts from various blogs based on category, keyword/tags or content. The Contextual links should also blend within the content. You will see some powerful results from this.

John, it will be interesting to see how you answer some of the issues that have come up. For example, how do you plan on serving up enough impressions to “pay off” all the credits that are piling up?
Also, once people realize that the traffic they’ll get is little to none and it’s already full of spam, how do you plan on keeping the impressions going?
You’ve done an amazing job with marketing the service, it just seems like you should have done a bit more work on meat and potatoes of the service as well.

John, one thing that I really think would improve the system and the overall quality of the posts would be to make it so publishers have the option to only publish select posts from the feed. If this is selected, then the default for these publishers would be that nothing gets sent out, but that they would continue to accrue credits and “bank them”.
Then, when they have a post that they think is extra-great and would be of interest to the BlogRush community, they could view a list of the recent items in their feed and press a button next to the posts they want to be “active” in BlogRush.
This will help low traffic blogs to be able to spend their credits wisely and help prevent BlogRush from being filled with “What I ate for breakfast’ type posts that won’t be of interest to the network at large.

Candee — actually, I’m fairly sure that doesn’t have anything to do with your Wordpress version — it is that your theme is a really narrow one for a 3-column theme. You may want to explore getting your theme updated to one that is a little more roomy.

I notice my BlogRush widget doesn’t always load COMPLETELY.
The bottom sometimes doesn’t appear. People don’t see the
“Add your blog posts here” part, which also means they don’t
click on that nor have the opportunity to sign up under my
referral link.
This doesn’t happen every time. About 70% of the time it
seems to load just fine, so I don’t think it’s a problem with my
blog or the way it’s installed.
Anyone else seeing this on their blogs?
(I didn’t see anywhere to post this question at the BlogRush
site.)
Thanks!

I’m stuck.
What is Feed URL???
Do I even have one?
There’s nothing about this in the Help section.
Please send answer to ymisinging@yahoo.com

I have not seen any traffic as of yet even though my blogrush control panel says that I have earned 617 syndication credits and I still have 221 credits to redeem … is it possible ?
September 19th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
A few days ago super internet marketer John Reese launched the Blog Rush Widget to huge fan fare.
Over 15,000 bloggers added the RSS syndication tool to their sites on the first day alone!
Now critics are bashing John Reese and attacking him personally, calling Blog Rush a scam. They have been very hurtful and malicious in their attacks.
People are coming to his defense…people like this angry young man. I found this on You Tube.

John, I’ve made a Custom RSS feed for BlogRush that gets around the problem I mentioned above about not be able to select which posts you want to syndicate across the network.
This is one file that can be dropped into the Wordpress root. I’ve got the download and instructions here for anyone that is interested:

Hi John,
For upcoming projects, I would like to see you do something related to online testing, which I believe you’re most famous for and an area you could bring most novelty to. Traffic tools are nice, but this has been done, in various forms, several times, already.
September 20th, 2007 at 12:33 am
Hi John,
Seeing a little bit of traffic already. Have you considered making different size widgets so they will fit in the sidebar better?
Thanks and Good Luck!
