My Visit To PayPerPost

I recently made a post that had some long overdue praise for Internet startup, PayPerPost.

As I mentioned in that post, I had never met PayPerPost’s Founder/CEO, Ted Murphy, even, though, PayPerPost is also located in Orlando where we are.

Ted emailed me after seeing my blog post and invited me to join him for lunch. And after spending a couple of weeks trying to get our schedules to cooperate, we were finally able to get together for lunch this week.

Ted and I had a great lunch and enjoyed sharing “war stories” about our adventures as entrepreneurs. We had a lot in common.

I talked with Ted in great detail about how PayPerPost was doing and picked his brain about his Master Plan for the company…

Let’s just say the Internet will soon being seeing a lot from PayPerPost.

Ted’s a sharp guy and I could really tell he’s very passionate about what he’s trying to build with PayPerPost. And my initial thoughts were definitely confirmed — he sincerely cares about the “Posties” that allow PayPerPost to even exist.

It was a lot of fun to visit PayPerPost’s headquarters. It’s quite a setup. They have bright colored walls and ‘fun’ stuff everywhere. Most of the employees have decorated their work areas with toys, memorabilia, and all kinds of personal objects.

PayPerPost has pretty much outgrown their existing offices as they have people working very close to one another in a large open room. But what I thought was truly amazing was how absolutely QUIET it was in their office.

Everyone was extremely busy and just quietly working away.

My visit to PayPerPost pretty much confirmed my thoughts on what I thought their company would be like… a team of hard-working people that really cares for and appreciates its customers.

    John,

Wonderful post! My family vacations in Orlando every year… we usually stay in Formosa Gardens (kissimmee).

I should stop in there sometime… maybe we can get together for some lunch and chat as well! I’ve been on your list for years and purchased almost every product you’ve ever created…

BTW I stand by your position at the forum (you know the one I’m talking about).

    Take care my friend…

    John,
Lunch was a great time! I loved sharing war stories, I love meeting fellow entrepreneurs. We will have to do it again some time soon.

    John,

Way to go John, this was a great follow-up to your original post about Payperpost.

It was good to see you get fired up on this one. Entrepreneurship is in my blood and as a lifelong entrepreneur I can relate to the struggles of building a company and the struggles to make the decisions to grow your company; adding divisions, shutting down divisions, when to hire, what to say, what is the best plan to follow, which systems work, which systems don’t work.

So much of what we do as business owners is like forging new trails through a thick forest, we are pioneers laying new ground and our success is partially dependent on trial and error. The decisions that we make as an entrepreneur, in and of itself, can make or break us. To find ourselves in the middle of a war tearing down the core of what we are building can be an uphill battle and to be plummeted by the competition or the consumer can be a deadly obstacle to overcome. I am impressed and commend you for your insight and perception, John. I look forward to watching Ted’s company grow, expand and become stronger.

Most of us will make some mistakes along the way, and in the end we can only strive to come out a bit scathed and much much wiser.

I leave you with one last thought… Payperpost (Ted); Good Luck and Pay It Forward, from my heart to yours…

    Excellent post!

One of the many things I do like about PPP is that Ted seems to truly care about his posties. I like that.

I’m a business owner, and I truly care about my customers. I enjoy seeing that trait in others, especially those at the top.

The posties, mostly, are very nice. I’ve met many nice posties by taking opportunities, and participating in some of the blog rolls. I use my personal blog for that.

I’m really thinking of using them as a way to advertise my business website in the near future.
